Well it’s all kicked off a bit for us in the last 3 months! We have been offered a showcase gig at the Montreux Jazz Cafe in London on the 26th April and are very excited about this indeed. We have been out and about promoting our E.P. as always and have begin to start recording our new single ‘Torch’ with legend Rhett Moir once again in the producer chair. We especially enjoyed our evening at Asylum in Chelmsford on the 3rd April playing alongside some great people. We are appearing at the St George’s day festival on the 27th at the Castle Inn in Framlingham so pop along to that for some free lighters. Much love as always to all our new likes, we are so close to 1000 now. A huge party will be organised upon reaching this milestone with a WSD DJ set and all manner of craziness for sho’.
Nearly at 1000 likes on facebook, I say, not so bad indeed!
A quiet xmas period for ALLO following DJB car accident and only an appearance at Stowmarket Christmas Light switch on and gig with our good friend Nyro B in Thorpe-Le-Soken at the Rose and Crown which was jolly. A new live video of Torch available thanks to the chaps at Get Known Be Heard http://youtu.be/JEfKu8XTaGc and the track will hopefully be soon available to purchase. Never ones to keep off the merch train very long, ALLO mugs can now be ordered through facebook and WSD outlets. Many thanks to Sophie’s Choice Radio show at ICR for playing us a lot recently and we hope you found our jingle helpful. 2014 will hopefully bring exciting things for us already we have booked a showcase at the John Peel Centre on Feb 21st. As always much love to all our new likes, fans and followers on Twitter and a big shout out to our Reverberation people as we are still number 1 in our local charts, now if we could just get up the national ones!
In a month of statistics ALLO is back and we have a third band member the illustrious Tim Fletcher has joined to allow WSD to move over to his rightful place on the piano. The new line up made their first appearance at Colchester Institute Swinburne Hall for a charity gig and will be appearing at various open mic session in and around Suffolk and Essex the first of which being the Railway on the 4th Nov 2013. New material is being written and a new E.P. will be available in the new year titled ‘Take a torch to the cheap seats’. We were played on Radio 6 and also got another spin on BBC introducing which made us very happy. We also have passed 680 likes on Facebook and are 1st on Reverberation’s local singer-songwriter chart which is awesome! Our Cake song is making it’s way up the Youtube charts and has just clocked 237 views which is cool after a week and also Navigate Your Heart has passed 1000 plays on Spotify.
Summer is here! as are our CD’s at long last, thanks goodness. Fun impromptu gig in Shepherds Bush Esquires coffee house and an enjoyable appearance at the Big Charity Garden Party in Ipswich followed by a great solo gig by ‘alightleft50%on’ at Biddlestone pub in July. One of our tracks has been approved for Fresh On The Net which is very humbling and may be played on Radio 6 with Tom Robinson on Monday 5th August fingers crossed. We have almost reached 500 likes and will have to do something special to mark the occasion. A long over due holiday now for ALLO but DJB will be writing some new material and will be back in the studio in September. As always much love and thanks to all who support us in our project. Especially all the musicians who are involved, congrats to our resident special guest Maria Lara who has finished her AMTA course and is hitting the Jazz circuit to promote her latest project. Finally please check out the Steph Mascucci band whom DJB is currently producing.
Great gig at the Foresters Arms with Beth and Stephanie as support. Played our first Cosmic Puffin Festival River Stage which was very enjoyable and discovered we were the first band on the festival hoodie which was very cool. Alightlefton50%on will be appearing live at Tin Pan Alley Supporting Fagan Sat 11 May in Tin Pan Alley. Great response to our Get Known Be Heard video and we are appearing at their festival on 25th May. We have now passed 365 likes which is amazing, no small thanks I think, to Jonathan Turner at Colchester Hospital Radio who did us a great interview. A piano version of Exit through the Funfair is currently being recorded, along with possible a new song about Mega Bomberman. Beth H has produced another great drawing for us which we will be using for the CD which will one day actually be produced. Until then free merch all round with glow in the dark picks, Torches and Pens available through all good WSD outlets and gigs. Much Love and Cake ALLO x
WE ARE BACK AND WITH A VENGEANCE WSD has made a triumph return to bass and the Ipswich Railway Tavern saw the first outing of original alightlefton for 2013. New track ‘Exit through the funfair’ soon to be released and half of the money generated will be going to the Fender Music Foundation via Reverbnation’s music for good programme. We are recording a live video with Get Known Be Heard on the 31st in the Kingsway Theatre Harwich which DJB is very much looking forward to as the grand piano is very nice there. Beth White has her E.P. launch on the 14th of April and alightlefton will be providing support for this event. Special thanks go to Phil Toms who has arranged a wonderful string quartet for the new track and Steve Bingham who is laying it down old skool (playing the actual parts live) Cake song soon to be on youtube in the hope of viral success. We have cracked 260 likes on facebook and have got into the top 10 of our local chart on Reverberation which is very cool and exciting.
DJB is now back on his feet and fighting fit once more after shaking off the flu with lots of tea and cake.
Brand new song is finally in production with Fat Cat Studios once again open for business and alightlefton have booked up Mersea’s The Cosmic Puffin and the Brightlingsea festival for later in the year. A quiet time for A Light Left On following our successful E.P. launch. (we are now on the wall of The Great Gurhka!) More outstanding illustrations from Beth Hannam can be seen on our facebook page all of which will be used on the vinyl copies of Gentlemen of The Shade. Bonus track are soon to be recorded for the physical copies including possibly the ‘Cake’ song. We have a gig Sunday 9th in The Hole In The Wall in Colchester where DJB will be, as well, debuting another new project ‘Beth White & The Colour Tones’ featuring the glorious Beth White & also Laura Whitman on bass and Chris Ozzard on Cajon. ALLO are playing another gig at Rob Ford’s Art Shop on the 15th Dec which we are very much looking forward to. Enjoy our new website edia player and suggest to your friends that our E.P. might make a jolly christmas pressie for those who are hard to buy for. Thanks as always to all our new fans.
HOORAY ‘Gentlemen Of The Shade’ is finally here (at least in digital form) and available from Itunes and Amazon as well as other various places around the interweb. Physical copies and vinyl will follow shortly once the art work is complete. Many thanks to Beth Hannam for her awesome illustrations for our facebook page and a extra ‘Wahoo’ as we have cracked the 210 mark, huge thanks to the glorious new fans DJB played a jolly splendid open mic at the Quay Theatre in Sudbury, and got the chance to test out his new Takamine guitar. The E.P. launch was a great success & many lighters were distributed, Manpansand consumed and a generally ‘not so bad’ time was had by all. The original line up of ALLO will be performing at the Colchester Institute Open Mic session on Thursday 22nd Nov where DJB will be hosting up and coming talent from in & around the area. Pop down if your about and have a beer with some great new original music. New ALLO line up (Beth White Left On) wil be appearing for the Rotary on Sunday 24th Nov at the Frinton Golf Club.
